SFPUC WATER SUPPLY PROJECTS

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission has undertaken a Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) to repair, replace, and seismically upgrade the water system. The WSIP consists of 75 San Francisco and regional projects, to be completed by the end of 2015, including 9 projects in the Sunol Valley region.

Program Environmental Impact Report

The SFPUC released the Final PEIR in September 2008. This document includes responses to comments - as well as modified project descriptions for the Calaveras Dam Replacement and Alameda Creek Fishery Enhancement projects, and a new (but inadequate) approach to steelhead trout issues in Alameda Creek.

New Irvington Tunnel - Draft EIR out

The Draft EIR for the New Irvington Tunnel project was released May 27, 2009. The SFPUC will hold an informational open house and public hearing on the Draft EIR in Fremont on June 24. Public comments on the Draft EIR will be accepted until July 16.

Sunol Valley Water Treatment Plant Expansion - Draft EIR out

The Draft EIR for the Sunol Valley Water Treatment Plant Expansion project was released June 1, 2009. The SFPUC will hold an informational open house and public hearing on the Draft EIR in Sunol on June 30. Public comments on the Draft EIR will be accepted until July 17.
